No bolty, I haven't done any radio for a couple of years now, it's a tricky old game to get into, unless you're a gobby cunt like Evans or Moyes.

I have a Dell laptop and it's great for what I use it for.

I also have an Apple MacBook and it's great for what I use it for.

Spot on, gank. I did say I struggled with it. Can you help with this infuriating dilemma?

Will somebody please give me a desktop computer?

Oh, and a house. Somewhere nice.

Thanks.

Surely you mean a quilt cover, Dave?

You wouldn't iron a duvet.

I didn't give mine, Mart. It's one of the few things I can work out by myself without needing to read the input of over-achieving computer geeks.

Where I struggle is duvets. Can you recommend a genuine easy-iron one? TIA.

I wouldn't get too anxious about it, Dave. I was thrilled to hear yours though.

I'll have to read through this later as it'll help me! (NOT)
Looking at a new laptop as want to replace my MBP.

Mainly will be using DXO Optics Pro and Lightroom.
Still thinking of a new MBP as I'll get 20% off.

Don't get the snobbery when it comes to computers, it usually comes down to what you prefer.
some prefer macs, some prefer windows. as long as either of the systems suits your particular needs, doesn't mean the other is shit.

I think everyone will be pleased to hear your opinion, Mart.

Re: Mac or a PC (Hardware) (inc gank v i-Ron)
Putting aside operating systems and I can't give an opinion on the graphics packages the OP wants to use, surely the vast majority of people use the MS Office suite for professional reasons?

Anyone who doesn't think there are significant differences between the Mac and PC versions of the Office packages simply doesn't know how to use them very well. I have been forced to use a Mac for the past few years and they are shite in comparison.

Makes sense too. Why would Microsoft develop versions of similar quality for a competing platform?

Anyone who uses MS Office for work and buys a Mac to do so is clueless in my book.

I've dabbled with Photoshop but have no clue what Lightroom even is or does, so all I've said could be irrelevant/bollocks/both (delete as required).

I assume your preferred processor/RAM/SSD combination gives you a big enough sandpit so, unless you're pulling data from/pushing data to an external hard drive in virtual real time, you may be able to drop the USB3 requirement unless, of course it now comes as standard.

Cult - if I could do in a laptop fine but you can't without loads of issues.

Found an MSI 4K one for about £1,400 which smokes the Mac and Dell specs.

Lightroom and Photoshop are the same on both systems, I don't do anything with serious layers, the most I do is some content aware fill and the odd bit of stacking.

Once upon a time blokes argued over who had the best motor.

Now they argue over who has the best computer.
